Wilmington

Wilmington is the largest city in the Cape Fear region and the seat of New Hanover County — a historic port city on the Cape Fear River, home to UNCW and one of the most celebrated live-oak canopies in the state. The city's neighborhoods vary enormously in character, and in tree service needs. The downtown historic district (28401) and older neighborhoods like Forest Hills feature magnificent, mature southern live oaks — wide-canopied trees 75 to 100+ years old, with sprawling horizontal limbs that demand skilled, careful handling. These are Wilmington's crown-jewel trees, and they deserve crews who understand their structure and biology, not just a chainsaw and a chipper.

Newer areas on the city's edges and the Midtown corridor tend to have younger trees in the critical window for structural pruning — the decisions made now about how these trees are shaped will determine how they behave in storms 20 years from now.

Wilmington has also been ground zero for coastal storm damage, particularly after Hurricane Florence stalled overhead in 2018 and flooded the city off from the mainland. We have direct experience handling tree damage across Wilmington's neighborhoods and understand the specific challenges each area presents.

Wrightsville Beach

Wrightsville Beach sits on a barrier island east of Wilmington, separated from the mainland by the Intracoastal Waterway. Properties here face a uniquely harsh environment: full Atlantic exposure on the ocean side, sound exposure on the other, and salt-laden air and wind that stresses every tree on the island year-round. Trees at Wrightsville Beach take punishment that mainland properties never experience.

The island's live oaks, wax myrtle screening, and ornamental palms all require salt-tolerant, wind-aware care. Because Wrightsville is directly exposed to any system that comes ashore on the Cape Fear coast — hurricanes, tropical storms, and winter nor'easters alike — a professional assessment of your trees is worthwhile if it hasn't been done since the last major storm.

We work at Wrightsville Beach and understand the salt-air, sandy-soil, and wind-exposure considerations unique to barrier-island tree care.

Leland

Leland, just across the Cape Fear River in Brunswick County, is one of the fastest-growing communities in the entire region. Master-planned neighborhoods like Brunswick Forest and Magnolia Greens have driven a wave of new residential development — which means a lot of young trees in the 5-to-10-year window where proper structural pruning pays the greatest dividends, alongside mature loblolly pines and hardwoods on older and wooded lots.

Young trees pruned correctly develop strong, well-spaced branch architecture that holds up in storms for decades. Young trees neglected or improperly trimmed tend to develop co-dominant stems, included bark, and structural defects that get more expensive and risky to manage as the trees grow. If you're in a newer Leland neighborhood, structural pruning now is the most cost-effective tree decision you can make.

Hampstead

Hampstead lies north of Wilmington in Pender County, along the US-17 corridor toward Topsail. It's a rapidly growing coastal community with a mix of established properties, new subdivisions, and larger wooded lots. Properties in and around Hampstead often include mature loblolly and longleaf pines, live oaks, and the kind of larger acreage where multiple significant trees are part of the landscape.

The surrounding pine stands have seen bark beetle pressure in recent years. If you have pines that appear to be declining — yellowing needles, pitch tubes on the bark, increased needle drop — a professional assessment is worth scheduling before a dying tree becomes a storm hazard.

Ogden

Ogden is an established suburban community northeast of downtown Wilmington, between the city and Wrightsville Beach along the Market Street and Middle Sound corridors (28405/28411). It's one of the more active tree-service markets in New Hanover County, with a good mix of mature live oaks, water oaks, and pines across long-settled neighborhoods, plus newer development pushing toward Porters Neck and Middle Sound.

Ogden's blend of established shade trees and ongoing growth means a steady stream of both mature-tree care — structural pruning, large removals, storm response — and young-tree work in the newer subdivisions. We serve residential and commercial customers throughout the Ogden area.

Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach sits on Pleasure Island south of Wilmington, at the mouth of the Cape Fear River. Like Wrightsville Beach, it's a barrier-island community directly exposed to Atlantic conditions — salt air, ocean-facing wind, and direct hurricane and nor'easter vulnerability. Properties here range from year-round homes to a large stock of vacation rentals.

Trees at Carolina Beach face the same salt-air and barrier-island conditions as Wrightsville, with the added consideration that island access to some properties requires equipment planning. Salt-tolerant species — live oak, wax myrtle, and palms — dominate, and all benefit from wind-aware prep before storm season. We serve Carolina Beach and neighboring Kure Beach and understand the logistics of working on the island.

Monkey Junction

Monkey Junction is the well-known commercial and residential hub in southern New Hanover County (28409/28412), centered on the Carolina Beach Road and College Road intersection south of Wilmington toward Myrtle Grove. It's a busy, growing area with a mix of established neighborhoods and newer development spreading toward the river and the beaches.

Properties around Monkey Junction have a healthy stock of mature live oaks, water oaks, and pines, along with the young trees of newer subdivisions. This mix keeps our crews busy with everything from structural pruning to large removals and storm response.

Castle Hayne

Castle Hayne is a community in northern New Hanover County along the Cape Fear and Northeast Cape Fear Rivers, with a mix of rural-residential properties, larger lots, and low-lying, wet terrain. Properties here tend to have more trees per lot than the urban Wilmington neighborhoods, with bald cypress in the wet bottomlands and pines and hardwoods on higher ground.

The low, flood-prone soils around Castle Hayne make root anchoring a real consideration in storms — saturated ground can bring down trees that look perfectly stable on a dry day. We serve residential and commercial properties throughout Castle Hayne and can handle the larger-scale removal and trimming jobs common on the bigger lots here.

Porters Neck

Porters Neck is an established, largely residential community in the northeastern corner of New Hanover County (28411), including well-known neighborhoods like Porters Neck Plantation and Marsh Oaks. Many of these are HOA-governed communities where tree removal and trimming may be subject to architectural review, and where mature live oaks and pines are part of the neighborhood identity.

Porters Neck has a significant stock of mature residential trees that have reached sizes where proper professional care is worth the investment to maintain their health and minimize storm risk. We're familiar with the HOA considerations common in this area.

Murrayville & Myrtle Grove

Murrayville (northern Wilmington, off North College Road) and Myrtle Grove (southern New Hanover County, toward the river and Monkey Junction) are established suburban communities with grids of collector roads and good access for tree service equipment. Both have significant stocks of mature residential trees — live oaks, water oaks, and pines that have reached sizes where proper professional care protects both the trees and the homes near them.
